Redefine the most important facial feature you have – your nose.

Aesthetically improve the nose and make it harmonize better with the other features of your face with rhinoplasty by Dr. Westine.

Rhinoplasty for Adults

Commonly, Dr. Westine’s adult rhinoplasty patients have always disliked their nose or have had a traumatic injury in the past.

The nose also ages as the rest of the face. The cartilaginous tip of the nose will begin to sag and can create an elongated “witchy” appearance. Often a very small correction in the elevation of the nasal tip will enhance a patient’s overall appearance.

Why choose a facial plastic surgeon?

Not every plastic surgeon is specialty-trained to perform rhinoplasty, one of the most challenging of all aesthetic surgery. Dr. Westine is a double board certified facial plastic surgeon. Facial plastic surgeons must first complete a five year surgical residency program in ENT Head and Neck Cancer. They must then complete a 1-2 year Facial Plastic and Reconstructive surgical fellowship.

Will I still look like me?

Dr. Westine believes that the nose should be in balance with the face and appear natural. There is not a “one-size fits all” nose.  To help patients visualize surgical results, Dr. Westine utilizes imaging software to review realistic changes made to your “before” photo.

Adult rhinoplasty is often performed with

  • Chin Implant
  • Otoplasty
  • Submental Liposuction

Rhinoplasty for Teens

Being a teenager has never been easy, but in today’s world of social media with Instagram and Snapchat, it can be even harder.   Because it is such a defining facial feature, the size and shape of the nose can have a significant impact upon an individual’s appearance and self-esteem, especially during adolescence.  Breathing may also be impaired if the internal structures of the nose are affected.  This can affect a teen’s sleeping and athletic performance.

A nose-job or rhinoplasty is performed to aesthetically improve the nose, so that it harmonizes with other facial features, while maintaining or improving the nasal function. A rhinoplasty alone or in combination with other procedures can address:

  • A nasal hump or bump on the nasal cartilage
  • A crooked or droopy nose
  • Nostril shape and size or nostrils that appear pinched or too large
  • A nose that appears flat, without enough projection

Dr. Westine also believes that form follows function, meaning that a good looking nose is also a nose that breathes well.  Often, a septoplasty will be done at the same time to straighten the cartilage inside the nose.

What is the best age for teenagers to have nose surgery?

Parents and teens thinking of elective aesthetic surgery should wait until facial features are fully developed, typically age 15-16 for girls and 16-17 for boys.

Will I have black eyes?

Most of Dr. Westine’s patients do not experience significant bruising. However, bruising can occur with any surgery, and typically resolves within 10-14 days. You will also wear a nasal cast for 1 week in order to stabilize the nasal cartilage.

How long is the recovery?

Your nasal cast will be removed within 5-7 days after your surgery.  The nasal cartilage is slow to remodel and changes can continue up to one year after surgery.  Thicker skinned patients tend have greater swelling which can lengthen the recovery process.
