Looking older than you feel? A brow lift may be right for you!

Eliminate a tired or “angry” appearance around the eyes, elevate a “saggy” eyebrow over the upper eyelids, and reduce your frown lines.

One of the most common concerns that Dr. Westine hears from his patients is having a tired or “angry” appearance when they look in the mirror. Some patients complain of a “saggy” or “heavy” forehead.

Genetics and the natural aging process affect not only the position of the brow, but the skin as well. Repetitive movements of facial expression can create furrows and wrinkles on the brow that contribute to the angry look many patients are seeking to address.

A brow lift with or without eyelid surgery is a common procedure performed for women in their mid-30s to 40s. Natural aging changes are typically first observed in the upper one-third of the face.

A brow lift or forehead lift can help to restore a more natural, youthful appearance while maintaining or improving visual function. Depending on the position of the brow, a patient may need only a brow lift, or an upper eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) as well.

Dr. Westine may pre-treat some brow lift patients with a neuromodulator such as Botox or Dysport, to minimize the amount of downward pull that the brows experience during the healing process.

Will I lose my hair and will my hairline change?

There are several surgical approaches to lifting the brow position. Dr. Westine prefers to use a Trichophytic (at the hair line) approach. The incision is placed at the junction of your hairline and forehead. The advantage of this techniques is that your hair line will not shift and hair loss is minimal to none.

How do I maintain my browlift results?

A brow lift primarily raises brow position. Although some improvement in forehead wrinkles can be obtained from a brow lift, it does not address all the superficial lines that come from premature aging, overexposure to weather, and genetics. Procedures such as chemical peels and skin resurfacing will address textural wrinkles and imperfections while treatment with a neuromodulator, like Botox, will help soften wrinkles caused by repetitive or excessive facial animation.

Procedures often combined with browlift surgery

  • Facelift
  • Laser Resurfacing
  • Neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport)
